Dear Parents and Guardians

What an amazing summer for many of our families.  Family activities and vacations make for wonderful memories that last a lifetime.  I managed to accomplish some much needed upgrades to my home and take in a couple of weekend trips to the beach.  I also spent some quality time with my two grandsons, Xavier and Noah.  Xavier is 6 and Noah is 3 years old.  Needless to say they kept me active all summer.  It’s time to return to school and prepare for a new school year.  Once again I’m blessed to be back as your site administrator.  This will be my fifth year with the district and my fourth year at El Tejon School.

Last year was exciting and filled with many special activities and projects; Camp Keep for 5th grade, Ocean Institute overnight for 6th grade, 7th grade Ocean Exploration, 8th grade university visits, sports program, carnivals, and banquets.  Another exciting event was the ribbon cutting ceremony for our 2nd softball field that was sponsored by generous community donations including National Cement Company.   Many of these projects would not have been possible without the support of our creative students, staff, and parents.  Thank you for making the previous school year a success!

Teachers and district staff have worked hard these last few days to prepare classrooms.  In addition to our returning staff we have several new staff members that you will soon meet.  Welcome Mr. Jensen, Mrs. Romanini, Mrs. Zimmerman, and Mrs. Page to the El Tejon Family!

Please read and become familiar with our Parent-Student Handbook.  The goal in providing this handbook is to give parents and students an understanding of the rules, procedures, privileges, and responsibilities at El Tejon School.  Review the contents with your child and return all necessary forms to school as soon as possible.

The instructional school day begins promptly at 8:30 a.m.  It is essential that all students come to school every day on time, prepared, and ready to learn.  Students are dismissed at 2:50 p.m. and 1:50 on minimum days.  There is supervision after 8:10 a.m. if you are dropping off your student at school.

Parent participation is highly encouraged; in the classroom, committees, PTSO, or simply to participate in many of our scheduled field trips.  Feel free to stop in and ask us how you can become a valuable volunteer at El Tejon School.   I look forward to meeting our new incoming 5th graders and welcoming back all returning students!
